I just found your website about 5 minutes ago and immediately subscribed to it. I am so exciting to read it. I do have a question, which might be answered as I explore this site. Do you blog about how you did everything necessary to create this life... an American buying property and starting a business in Italy -- all the ins and outs of that journey. If you haven't, do you know of any good resources?

Ms. Baur, While researching for an upcoming wine dinner, I happened upon the story of "Herbs of the nice women". I am intrigued with this story, and would like you to give more details. Is this a local story from the past relating to this fritatta recipe? And please, excuse my ignorance on the ending, "Always trust women you meet in fields in Italy", but could you explain this as well?

Hi - liked this post - it's nice to see what an expat from another country thinks of Piemonte. Yes, it is a vibrant place and much overlooked in favour of Tuscany, Venice, etc. But the wines are delicious, the foods - especially the alpine cheeses, the mushrooms and the selvagina - are world class.

Hello Diana, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your blog. My husband and I spent a week in Piemonte a couple of years ago and I felt as if I had come home (Quite a feat since I am American of Welsh-German roots living in China)I can imagine the challenges of doing what you and your Michael have done in restoring your B&B. Not for the fainthearted. I am hoping to see more of your blogging although you sound like a very busy lady!

I happened to find your blog while dreaming about Piedmont. Such beautiful pics! Had a wonderful day trip to the Monferrato region a couple of years ago and would like to visit again. I might be too late for tartufo season though.

Diana,

We are planning a 9 day trip to Italy and plan to go no farther south than Rome. We spent a month in Italy 30 years ago, but want to give my daughter more than just the big cities. Your pictures make me want to veer off the beaten path. I have to get her to Florence, Venice and Rome, but how can I not show her the more beautiful places? Time, if only I had more time!

I'm so happy you started these wonderful new blogs. Sad to see CS go, but this is a fine and worthy development of that.

I can't wait to learn your Piemontese recipes and discuss them over a nice glass of Nebbiolo. As I may have told you already, my nonna was from Asti, so some Piemonte (and its glorious food&wine) is in my dna.

Big hugs and apologies for not coming here sooner.
