Welcome to Piemontescapes.

Italy is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world.  Have you ever wanted to escape to a region of the country rich in culture, beautiful scenery, fabulous food and wine, but one that it also not overrun by tourists?

As an innkeeper and in the beautiful Piemonte region, it’s a great pleasure for me to introduce you to my special corner of Italy.  Since 2003, we have lived and worked here, accumulating a wealth of information and experience on the internationally renowned wine and cuisine.   Piemontescapes is the place from which I would like to share our discoveries with you.

If you are thinking of visiting Piemonte,  you will find lots of information here about cities and towns, castles, wineries,  and different kinds of accommodation that are available (including, of course, but not limited to our own bed and breakfast).

A few facts to acquaint you with our region:

Piemonte is the second largest region in Italy.

It’s located on the Northwestern border of the country, comprised of mountains, lakes and wine country.  The Alps and the Apennine mountain chain surround the region, separating it from the Ligurian coastline and the rest of Europe.

The wine region of Piemonte is the finest in Italy, and the finest drops in the country are produced here.

Barolo, Barbaresco, Barolo and Dolcetto top the list of the region’s red production.  There are more DOC and DOCG registered wines in Piemonte than anywhere else in the country.

Food and wine experts from around the globe know that Piemonte represents the best of what Italy has to offer from a gastronomic and enological perspective.

The Slow Food Movement , started as  a counter movement to fast food and to promote sustainable development all over the world, has its headquarters here. In Piemonte, it’s all about eating and drinking! We are  surrounded on all sides by a over a thousand wineries with in an hour’s drive, countless country restaurants, trattorie, and agriturismi where fabulous multi-course meals can be had for a song.  In Piemonte, antipasto is king with many restaurants serving their special selection of appetizers, one after the other, without the guest needing to order anything.

The capital of Piemonte is Torino, one of the most beautiful cities in Italy.

With its grid layout, it has the feeling of a European metropolis.  Boasting the best café culture outside of Paris.  The chocolate bar was invented in Torino, so one can imagine the types of chocolatiers that can be found here.  A colorful university quarter, the gorgeous river promenade, the beautiful fully stored Venaria Reale Palace, the internationally renowned headquarters of the food temple Eataly and the fabulous Cinema Museum just begin to tell the story of the type of lifestyle that Torino has to offer.
